Education On E Street

New Jersey's Monmouth University is breaking some new academic ground with an upcoming event titled Glory Days: A Bruce Springsteen Symposium. More than 150 academics from North America and Europe will dissect every imaginable aspect of Springsteen's music, from the theological ("The Boss and The Bible") to the socio-political ("A Marxist Perspective on 'Darkness on the Edge of Town'") and all in between. Why Springsteen? Why New Jersey? As a local newspaper editorial suggested, "Springsteen is to New Jersey what Santa Claus is to the North Pole." The symposium will run September 9th-11th. We're still waiting for word on when North Pole University will be holding its Santa symposium.
