Classic Rockers Rock For Katrina Victims
Thursday September 8, 2005
The roster of artists who will be performing at a September 20 Madison Square Garden benefit for Hurricane Katrina relief includes two performers who are, themselves, hurricane victims. New Orleans residents Fats Domino and Allen Toussaint are among those recently rescued from the devastation. They will be joined by Elton John, Jimmy Buffett, Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Lenny Kravitz, Bette Midler, John Fogerty, Loggins & Messina and Earth Wind & Fire. All of the proceeds from the show, From the Big Apple To the Big Easy will go to various Katrina relief agencies. In addition to subsidizing the concert, Madison Square Garden will donate an additional $1-million to hurricane recovery efforts. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, September 13 through Ticketmaster.
