J2 Entertainment has bought the film rights to biographies of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead, and is planning a feature film based on Garcia's recovery from a drug-induced coma and subsequent success of the band. Negotiations are continuing on the music rights, so there are no projections yet on when the movie might be released.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in January for Chapter 27, an independent film about John Lennon's murder. Lindsay Lohan is being cast as a fan who befriends Lennon's killer, Mark Chapman, played by Jared Zeto. The part of Lennon has not yet been cast. Meanwhile, more Lennon memorabilia has been auctioned off, with proceeds to benefit Amnesty International. The white suit he wore on the Beatles' Abbey Road album cover brought $118,000 and the hearse he drove in the documentary, Imagine, fetched $150,000.
Editors have spent months carefully matching silent film footage to audio recordings of a 1975 Bruce Springsteen concert. The resulting DVD, which will be included in the 30th Anniversary edition of Born To Run, was the subject of a preview screening in New York City on November 2. To the south, a scheduled Springsteen concert in Sunrise, Florida that was postponed by Hurricane Wilma has been rescheduled for November 19 in nearby Hollywood. Springsteen Tour Schedule/Tickets
Following on this week's release of the new Carlos Santana album, All That I Am, look for the release of the DVD, Santana Live By Request, which was recorded for the A&E cable network series of the same name. The DVD is due out November 15.Santana Tour Schedule/Tickets
