Black Sabbath: No Performance At Rock Hall Induction

Thursday February 23, 2006
Usually, living artists who are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame perform a "greatest hit" or two at their induction ceremony. It appears that Black Sabbath -- never slaves to tradition or formality -- will not be performing at their Rock Hall induction March 13.

According to drummer Bill Ward's online audio diary, Sabbath will attend the ceremony and say "thank you" but will not be performing.

Sabbath was nominated eight times before being inducted. Back in 1999, Ozzy Osbourne requested that the band's name be withdrawn from consideration, declaring that "the nomination in meaningless." Is there a connection with the band's plans not to perform at the induction ceremony? Hey, this is Black Sabbath we're talking about. I wouldn't bet against it.
