Andy Fraser: Finally Free
Tuesday April 4, 2006
Here are some facts about Andy Fraser that you may not know:
Except for an appearance with fellow Free alumnus Paul Rodgers at Woodstock '94, we haven't heard much from Fraser in the last 15 years or so. In 2005, he released Naked ... and Finally Free, his first album since 1984. Next month, Fraser will take yet another step back toward the limelight with two concerts in Temecula, California which will be taped for a worldwide broadcast. The concerts will feature some of his best known compositions for Free ("All Right Now," "Mr. Big") and Robert Palmer ("Every Kinda People") along with material from his new album.
- He was just 16 when he left John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers to become bassist for Free in 1968
- He wrote Free's signature track, "All Right Now"
- He has battled cancer, depression, neck surgery, and AIDS
