Marianne Faithfull Beats Cancer

Tuesday November 7, 2006
Now this is the kind of news I really enjoy reporting.

A few weeks ago we told you that singer Marianne Faithfull had been diagnosed with breast cancer. It's a pleasure to report now that she has undergone surgery and has made a "full recovery," according to her spokesman.

"It has been an extraordinary experience and, in many ways, extremely positive," Faithfull said in a statement announcing her recovery.

Doctors say the 59-year-old Fathfull's cancer was detected and treated in its earliest stages, and have cleared her to resume touring in the spring. A tour of Europe and North America is now scheduled to begin in March.

Just felt motivated to express my support and best wishes towards Marianne. As a fellow baby boomer her music has been a memorable part of my life.
Whilst many people probably still associate her in thelimelight with Mick when the Stones were out there doing it alongside the Beatles and the British Beat Boom. Most true fans will acknowledge her distinctively colourful and memorable voice that has made her a consumate artiste’ in her own right.
