Taking Woodstock - Book Review

Thursday August 16, 2007

Even if you are somewhat familiar with the historic 1969 Woodstock festival, it's very possible that you aren't familiar with the name Elliot Tiber, or with Tiber's role in the staging of Woodstock.

Tiber (with Tom Monte) has written a book about his place in the history of Woodstock, and about key events in his life that led up to it.

Here's my review of Taking Woodstock: A True Story Of A Riot, A Concert, And A Life.

I did get read this Dave. Now I see it’s being mad into a movie by Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee. This should be a fun project. I plan to try and keep up a report about it on my site. I can’t wait to see it.

If I had a say on what the title song should be, I would choose Melanes’,”Lay Down” (Candles in the rain).

The next book and movie I want to read and see is “Old Bitch Warrior”(The bio of Melanie Safka). Sorry to use the word “bitch” Dave but, Melanie has an old CD titled, “Old Bitch Warrior”. It was only released in Europe. I guess they can get away with calling the CD OBW there. lol

I found the book that the movie was made from to be full of
antisemitic caricatures, penned by Mr Tiber himself, who used to be a
Jew I guess, and his portrait of his mother in the book is sad and
tragic and antisemitic, he seems to really hate his mother and to hate
her because she was Jewish. It’s a sad day when that happens. I hope
the movie is better than the book, which sucked. Also, all the sick
perverted gay sex stuff in the book, I hope that does not get in
either. The young Mr Tiber aged 8 or so goes to Times Square movie
theaters to get fondled and etc by middle aged perverts and he writes
about it like that is normal? Normal? I love gays but this kind of SM
stuff as a young teen is sick. No wonder his life turned out that way
it did. I hope this stuff also does not make it into the movie. How on
earth did Mr Lee Ang get hold of this material. It is antisemitic and
sick gay stuff, is Mr Schamus his partner gay? I am a frum Jewish
woman, and this scares me.
