Dan Fogelberg: 1951-2007
For a description of soft rock in the 70s, you need look no further than the catalog of Dan Fogelberg. His were the lyrics and melodies that stuck with you, that stirred something inside you each time you heard them.
I can hear "Same Old Lang Syne" clearly now without having to bother to play the CD. I am still haunted by "Wysteria" and I've lost count of the number of weddings I attended at which "Longer" was performed.
His first album was Home Free, released in 1972. His last was Full Circle in 2003. In 2004, Fogelberg was diagnosed with prostate cancer. On Sunday, he died (peacefully, they say) at home. He was only 56.
The announcement of his passing is on the Fogelberg Web site.
Some fond remembrances are posted on the Layla's Classic Rock Faves blog.
