Hot Tuna Electric - Concert Review

Tuesday February 26, 2008

It's hard to remember a time when Hot Tuna wasn't a staple of the rock scene. Maybe that's because they've been around since 1969 and are still performing today.

Hot Tuna was created from a rich talent pool created by the breakup of Jefferson Airplane. Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, Paul Kantner, Marty Balin and Joey Covington traded the psychedelic rock of Jeff Airplane for the blues rock of Hot Tuna.

Today, Kaukonen and Casady still form the nucleus of Hot Tuna. Recently the electric version of the band (they also have an "acoustic trio" version) played suburban Philadelphia, where guest reviewer Rich Saracino scored some cheap, but very good seats from which to review Hot Tuna's live gig.
