Concert Review - New Riders of the Purple Sage

New Riders of the Purple Sage can claim more than one rock band distinction.

Three of the band's original (1969) members (Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart) were also part of Grateful Dead. Another original member, David Nelson, is still in the band today. And NRPS has the distinction of having successfully re-formed (2005) after a hiatus of nearly 20 years.

Today's Riders handle the band's classic material and newly minted songs with equal skill, as they demonstrated at a recent live gig in New York. Jim Smith reviews the reincarnated New Riders of the Purple Sage.
