Steven Tyler Comes Clean About Coming Clean
When Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler checked into rehab a couple of months ago, he said it was because he needed a "safe environment" in which to recover from foot surgery. Tyler is out of rehab, and now that he's out, so is the truth.
It was getting hooked on pain killers and sleeping pills following surgery that prompted him to get clean. Again. Tyler famously abused alcohol and drugs in the '70s and just as famously came clean and re-energized Aerosmith in the mid '80s. These days he is out with the rest of the band promoting a safer form of virtual reality: Guitar Hero 3: Aerosmith, which has quickly become one of the most popular Playstation™ video games.
But No Guitar Heroics For Zep
While Aerosmith is thriving in the virtual world, Led Zeppelin says, "No, thanks" to repeated offers from music game makers. "It ain't about the money," says guitarist Jimmy Page's manager. Rather, Peter Mensch tells Wall Street Journal, it's because the band gets the heebie-jeebies over the prospect of granting access to their master tapes.
Other bands being courted for gamer stardom who seem more likely to embrace the new medium: Van Halen, Eagles and Steely Dan.
