New Year, New KISS Album and Tour

Tuesday December 2, 2008
New music from KISS isn't something that happens very often these days. In fact, it has been ten years since the guys with the clownish makeup last released a studio album of new stuff (1998's Psycho Circus.)

Well, hold on to your face paint, KISS fans. No less an authority than Paul Stanley reports on the band's website that "it looks like we’ll be going in the studio shortly to do the first new KISS album in 10 years. It’s going to be very much a vintage, classic, '70s KISS album without much regard to what’s happened since then; it’s back to the roots." Look for a release date sometime in the summer.

Guitarist/vocalist Stanley will also be Paul the Producer for KISS studio album #19. The band is also planning a world tour in 2009.

UHM, YEAH. YOU APPARENTLY DO NOT REALIZE JUST HOW MANY MUSICIANS THESE MEN HAVE INLFUENCED. IF IT WASNT FOR THEM, WE WOULD HAVE FAR LESS GREAT MUSIC THAN WE DO. DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BASH PEOPLE THAT MEAN MORE TO THE WORLD THAN YOU EVER WILL.

I saw Kiss on their tour of 2008. They are still physically fit, they can still raise hell and rock through the night in ways that most 20 year olds couldn’t. Paul and Gene might be pushing 60, but that doesn’t meen they are old. Ist just a number. I totally agree with Draven. We should all show Kiss some respect for all they’ve done for Rock-music and for the fantastic songs they have written. The release of a new Kiss-album is great news – more fantastic songs! And about the screwing and partying – who better to write songs about that, than Kiss? Those guys have had more experience in that field than any of us will ever have…

I’m gonna play the Demon’s advocate here however I believe most criticisms thrown at Kiss are pretty accurate.

Psycho Circus was a vehicle to cash in on the reunion and to keep keep going, when they lied about all members having equal say on the album. NOT TRUE.
Then they did the Farewell Tour and I must say I respect Ace to no end saying that he saw it as a farewell tour – and said Farewell to Kiss – probably for the 2nd and last time.

However to be in a band that influenced most who came after and still has appeal to millions (just ask em in Europe and South America)you can’t blame em for continuing when the demand is there. If you don’t wanna see an aging rock band singing about getting laid that burn your Aerosmith, AC/DC and Stones tickets too.

I don’t appreciate them doing the Ace and Peter roles with 2 “scabs” as you say – but do yourself a favor. Check out a 70s Kiss show with the original members like Houston ‘77 then watch the Rock The Nation Live & you’ll see that Eric and Tommy play with less ego and more precision and energy than the ones they “replaced”.

I as a longtime fan was shocked myself and was honestly happy that they can bring the idea and energy of Kiss to younger kids.

I’d much prefer my kids (if I ever have any) to be into a band who sings about individuality, fun, sex and living life than the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus.

Basically having grown on on Kiss I endured a lot of lineup changes with the best ever probably being Eric Carr. They had some lowpoints – although Im one of those weirdos who loves the Elder, so I may be a bit biased lol.

Kiss are the kings of the comeback and today with cd sales slumping this new “scab album” will never be as successful as Love Gun or Destroyer – but it’s also not the mid 70s either – but again – they’re still here. And nobody said you have to like or listen to it.

But give credit where it’s due, for whatever alterior motives they may have (financially etc.,) they still work their asses off which is a lot more than can be said about most of the one hit wonders who are filling the airwaves these days.

Yes I love the 74-79 lineup but don’t overlook the rest of their catalogue either…

Age is of no real importance. What matters is 1) can these guys write a marketable product (will it sell?) and 20 can they deliver a live show to support it. Obvious answer is yes on both accounts. They’ve already told us don’t look for it to sound like modern rock. This will be meat and potatoes KISS. For newer fans (since the reunion)this will be likely further prompt sales of the back catalog. For the older rockers who have been there from the beginning, it’ll be another affirmation that we knew what we were doing when we embraced the band 35 years ago.

I’m going to have to stop saying that KISS is now nothing more than the best KISS Tribute band in the world. If they are putting out new music, maybe we can get them to stop having Tommy and Eric wear Ace’s and Peter’s makeup!!

I think it’s great that KISS continue to march on….(been a fan since the late 70’s) but quite honestly, whether it’s my age now or the fact that 1/2 the ORIGINAL members are gone again for the 2nd time….it just doesn’t have the same spark or gusto it once had. KISS used to play in your face rock tunes, with cool riffs and catchy choruses. They were a “basic” rock band with glitter and gold surrounding their every move.

Now…they seem like a parody of themselves and don’t do justice to the old KISS vibe. I look forward to hearing something new from them, and can only hope it’s at least a reflection of what made them so cool in the 70’s. Ace and Peter will always be what helped make the band what it was. Both Eric and Tommy are great, but are simply playing in a KISS COVER band. I am looking forward to Ace getting out his solo CD this year (hopefully) as well.

Long live the KISS magic….long live the KISS History and mystique….but all good things must come to an end. I hope the new CD proves me wrong. It’s hard to go back in time to get the same vibe you once had. “Youth” is hard to recoup. But as they say on DESTROYER….”Flamin’ Youth will set the world on fire!” GOOD LUCK KISS!!

Let me start by saying, allo fo you peope that are knocking Kiss apparently have never been to one of their shows. I have seen 4 of the more popular new groups this year, and while they were all good, they still can’t hang with Kiss! You don’t have to agree with me in thinking they are one of the best rock groups ever, but please don’t slam them by compaing them to groups that are around now! Let’s have this discussion in 10 years, and we will see how many of these groups are: a) still around b) approach Kiss in album sales and c) are even mentioned in the same breath as Kiss! How come nobody knocks the Stones like this? They are good, but these guys are older than Kiss and they don’t get the same disrespectful bull#%& as Kiss does!

There has been bashing about Tommy and Eric wearing Peter’s and Ace’s makeup. Kiss is the makeup regardless of who is wearing it. To all of you who bash Kiss, if you have nothing good to say then do not say it, and to those of you who comment about their ages, so what, “if you got it, flaunt it” you show me any other 60 year old that can do what they do!!! My philosophy is if you do not like them, they do not listen to them.

I’ve got news for you buddy, if it weren’t for KISS, Alice Cooper, Ozzy and Led Zeplin (yes those so called old timers) you would not have groups like Slipknot. Stephenwolf started the hard and heavy metal music, Iron Butterfly got a new sound, Black Sabath put the darkside in there to be the first all Heavy Metal Band, Alice CooPer put in the maKe up and masks, Kiss rewrote the book with not only the make up but stunts, blood and fire. And Zeplin put in a very hard sount to both hard rock and heavy metal, especially with John Bonhums drum play. Like it or not you owe your enjoyment of todays music to them. So get over yourself.
