Rock on a Budget

If one classic rock band is good, two are even better. And three??

Styx, REO Speedwagon and .38 Special will tag team for a 30-date tour, beginning May 13 in Albuquerque and ending in St. Louis on July 11. The best part? Ticket prices that will be as low as $13.50, as part of what Styx's Tommy Shaw calls "our own personal rock ‘n’ roll stimulus package." Ahead of the tour, Styx and REO are releasing a single -- "Can't Stop Rockin'" -- coming to a radio station near you in the next couple of weeks. Tour Schedule

Another threesome -- Def Leppard, Poison, and Cheap Trick -- will set out together for a late June through early September tour of 40 cities. This will be Leppard's fifth straight U.S. summer tour, and vocalist Joe Elliot hints that it may be the last one for a while. "I seriously do think that it's time for us to not do it next year," Elliot said, "because I'm a firm believer in you don't want to do it too much — people start taking you for granted." I saw Styx and REO when they toured several years ago. It was very good. They also produced a live DVD from the tour which is available on Amazon. While this new tour will be mostly a rehash of that one, hopefully people will come out who missed them the first time around.

When you have 3 washed-up classic rock bands as these….it’s not too hard to believe tickets will be as low as $13.50. Try getting the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and The Stones try this……

Chutster – Washed up bands …?
Styx, REO & 38 Special?! You have got to be kidding!?

I love The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac are OK, the Stones … Well, way past their best!

You know there was a time when these acts – The latter not the former! – were really prime time acts!
Fleetwood Mac though, it’s been a while since they were ‘complete,’ yet they still charge high prices for shows.
The Stones, incredible as we all agree I’m sure that Keith Richards is still alive, let alone capable of getting on stage. I last saw them in ‘81 … They were good then, but seriously, would I want to pay out the cash today to see a show that I know could simply not come close to what I saw before …
They will never drop their prices, sad bu very true …

The Eagles sadly, I have never been able to afford to see them … Would love to, even though again like Fleetwood Mac & the Stones, does not include important band members.
I would still love to see The Eagles … Probably never will though & I’m 47.

Personally, fans will be way more appreciative of Styx, REO & 38 Special doing these reasonably priced shows, especailly with the current economy.
You’re also more likely to recognize more songs in each of their setlists as an average punter than you would at a Stone, Eagles or Mac show.
Just my 2c …

Styx & REO is always a great show, adding 38 Special this year, is just another bonus in my books as I’ve not seen them in about 4 years.
Pat on the back I say, that they can afford to do shows on this budget with the cost of putting on any live these days!
