Here are 17 words I never thought I'd say: Rush and Deep Purple have been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Nobody (well, not many) would disagree with Billboard magazine's assessment of these two bands as "long considered glaring oversights for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."
Also in the running (again) are Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Paul Butterfield Blues Band and (for the first time) Procol Harum. Oh, and, of course, the usual list of rap, disco, r&b and pop artists whose presence cause annual agitation about the Rock Hall's rather loose definition of rock.
