Ringo lights Paul's cigarette. Joe Cocker flashes an enigmatic grin, Frank Zappa a devilish one. Santana feels what he plays. B.B. King shows his soul. Words don't do justice to the performance and backstage photos shot by the late Chuck Boyd in the Los Angeles area between 1965 and 1978, showcased in the new book, Forever Young: The Rock and Roll Photos of Chuck Boyd. Boyd, who was considered a fellow artist by the rock artists he photographed, had a way of capturing musicians at their most revealing, most personal moments, whether performing or posed. Until a couple of years ago, these photos were considered lost. Classic rock fans will be very happy that they weren't.
