Significant Facts About Keith Richards:

  • Best known as guitarist-songwriter for the Rolling Stones, but has worked as session guitarist for several other groups and artists
  • Formed the Rolling Stones with former school classmate Mick Jagger
  • Has recorded three solo albums, most recently Main Offender in 1992
  • Inspired Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow character in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies

Keith Richards Career History:

Although identified primarily with the Stones, he also had a short-lived solo career, releasing three albums in the late 80s and early 90s. This actually had the effect of reinvigorating the Stones. He has worked as a session player for Bono, U2, and Aretha Franklin, among others. He dropped the "s" from his last name in the mid 60s, but he added it back in 1979. Embracing a "bad boy" image early on, he may be better known for his drug habit than for his singing, songwriting, or guitar.

Essential Keith Richards CD:

Live At The Hollywood Palladium
From the concert tour in support of his debut solo album, Talk Is Cheap it also includes some of his signature Rolling Stones songs.
