British Invasion

The Beatles launched the British Invasion of the American rock music scene. (Capitol Records)

Definition: In the early ‘60s there was a big influx of British bands that found success in America, at first recording mostly covers of popular American songs. The movement is generally considered to have begun with The Beatles.

Examples: The Animals, The Who, The Kinks, Rolling Stones
