Two high school bands merged to form Genesis in 1967. Their first album, From Genesis to Revelation was released in 1969. They helped define the progressive rock genre in the '70s. The band officially went on hiatus in 1998, but they have reunited occasionally for one off performances, and for a reunion tour in 2007.
