For more than 30 years, the relationship between John Fogerty and Fantasy Records has been marked by bitter bickering and drawn out lawsuits. Thus it was a measure of surprise that greeted the announcement that the Creedence Clearwater Revival co-founder had signed with the very label with whom he had been feuding since CCR disbanded in 1972.
Fogerty and Fantasy are celebrating their reunion with the November 1 release of The Long Road Home: The Ultimate John Fogerty - Creedence Collection.
“I’ve always wanted to create a greatest hits collection that represented my entire career, but it was always painfully impossible to do so,” Fogerty says. “Now I can combine the Creedence songs, all of which I wrote, with my solo material. It’s great that I can finally document the various changes I’ve gone through musically over the years without having to follow any artificial lines.”
All of the 25 songs on the CD are familiar to CCR/Fogerty fans. Four new tracks were recorded live during Fogerty's 2005 U.S. tour: Hey Tonight, Bootleg, Keep on Chooglin’, and Fortunate Son.
