The best known and most successful of Irish rock bands started in 1976 as a teenage garage band. The group went through three names (Larry Mullen Band, Feedback, The Hype) before releasing their first single as U2 in 1979.

Irish Roots:
The band was formed at a Dublin high school. All but two of the original members (Adam Clayton and Dave Evans, aka The Edge) were born and raised in Ireland.

U2 have sold more than 150-million albums worldwide, won 22 GRAMMYs and is one of the highest grossing tour bands in history.
