The band's combination of blues, soul and garage rock wasn't all that popular in Ireland, but the group influenced the next generation of rock musicians to nearly as great a degree as bands that led the British Invasion vanguard. The band was formed and fronted by Van Morrison between 1963 and 1966. It broke up and reunited several times after Morrison's departure.
