Top 4 Blogs By Classic Rock Artists

By Dave White, About.com

There are quite a few blogs about classic rock, but fewer that are written by the arists themselves. It's not quite the same as a quiet conversation in your living room, but some classic rocks artists are getting personal through their blogs. Here are some that we think are worthy of your time and attention.

1. "Pete's Diaries" - Pete Townshend

The Who guitarist has used his blog to publish a book (The Boy Who Heard Music) and to chart the progress of the new Who album. He has also written a personal account of how he nearly lost his hearing.

2. "Brian's Soapbox" - Brian May

Queen's guitarist/songwriter tends to be quiet and reserved offstage. His blog -- where he takes pains to point out that the opinions expressed are strictly his own -- provides an outlet for his introspective thoughts and feelings.

3. "David Byrne Journal"

Talking Heads founding member David Byrne writes about subjects ranging from genetic research to demon metal music.

4. "Rotten Talk" - John Lydon

The Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon) frequently uses his blog to verbally abuse the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, among many other targets. Viewer Advisory: due to some strong language, viewer discretion is advised.
