It took Arlo Guthrie 40 years to get from Alice's Restaurant to Benaroya Hall. His pulpit is the concert stage, his sermon a combination of gentle protest and subtle political commentary. His legacy is the ability to captivate an audience, not by grabbing them by the throat, but by gently slipping them into his pocket.
