Preview: The Best of Little Feat
I rarely quote press releases that announce upcoming new albums, but I couldn't resist when I received this one from Special Ops Media about an upcoming Rhino Records release:
"Born in the heart of Hollywood, Little Feat wrote iconoclastic songs that combined rollicking rhythms and tight phrasing with cinematic lyrics about pill-popping truck drivers and burnouts sleeping in broken-down cars dreaming of hamburgers."
Can you blame me? Songs like "Oh Atlanta," "Dixie Chicken," "Tripe Face Boogie" and "Fat Man In the Bathtub" stamped Little Feat on the consciousness of a generation of rebellious youngsters (like me) in the 1970s. The September 26 release of The Best of Little Feat is a chronological compilation of 17 remastered versions of some of the Featsters' best work between 1971 and 1998.
