Mitch Mitchell, Hendrix Drummer, Dies
Mitch Mitchell was getting some rest after working the Experience Hendrix tour that ended last week (11/7) in Portland, Oregon. In a few days, he would be returning to his home in England. But yesterday morning (11/12) he was found dead in his hotel room, most likely of natural causes, according to the Medical Examiner. Mitchell was 62.
Mitchell was Jimi Hendrix's drummer from 1966 until Hendrix's death in 1970. He went on to work with a number of other artists including John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Keith Richards. Mitchell is being remembered in words and pictures on the Experience Hendrix website.

i had the pleasure of seeing Hendrix in 68 in Toronto, ON, Canada. From the opening notes of ‘Fire’ you knew you were witnessing a new frontier. He played the entire 1st (are you experienced) and 2nd albums. Axis-Bold as Love had just been released. We were not that familiar with all the material but were mesmerized not the less. Mitchell attacked his drums and propelled the band the entire night. i can srill conjure up images of that performance. It’s no wonder to this day the band lives on.
