It's good to see the consistency with which names from the classic rock era continue to appear among the nominees for GRAMMY awards. The latest crop includes Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, David Gilmour, Robert Plant, Eagles, Rush, AC/DC, Judas Priest and Metallica.

And the rock nominees are ...

Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance

In addition to the rock nominations:
• McCartney was nominated in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category for "That Was Me."
• Eagles' "Waiting In The Weeds" nominated for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals
• Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals nominees included Robert Plant and Allison Krauss for "Rich Woman."
• "Please Read The Letter" (Plant & Krauss) is up for Record Of The Year. The duo's Raising Sand gets an Album Of The Year nomination.
• "Love Appetite" by Steve Cropper and Felix Cavaliere, and "I Dreamed There Was No War" by Eagles were nominated in the Best Pop Instrumental category.
Long Road Out Of Eden (Eagles) was one of the Best Pop Vocal Album nominees.

Recordings released between October 1, 2007 and September 30, 2008 were eligible for consideration. The winners will be announced at the 51st GRAMMY Awards ceremony on February 6.

Unbelieveable….what about Knopfler’s “Kill to Get Crimson” or the Counting Crows newest release, an album of intense sonic proportions….the industry continues to shoot itself in the foot…I’d say balls if it had any!
