Sly and the Family Stone got the crowd on their feet "Higher". Arlo had everyone light a match; 1st time it had been done. Country Joe created the mood with Fixing to Die. Sha Na Na blue everyone away with At The Hop

MY " WOODSTOCK " MEMORIES

I HAVE SOME VIVID MEMORIES SOME MORE CLEARLY THAN OTHERS I.E. THE FIRST NIGHT THERE AN UNKNOWN ( TO ME ANYWAY ) SINGER NAMED " MELANIE " SANG A SONG THAT BLEW ME AWAY.... I THOUGHT THE SONG WAS TITLED " CANDLES IN THE RAIN " BUT ACCORDING TO THIS WEBSITE SHE SANG ONLY 2 SONGS NEITHER OF WHICH WAS THAT TITLE.... ANYWAYS OTHER ACTS I REALLY REALLY LIKED WERE THE PAUL BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND SINGING DRIFTIN N DRIFTIN AND BORN UNDER A BAD SIGN... CCR SINGING I PUT A SPELL ON YOU... SANTANA'S SOUL SACRIFICE... JOE COCKER'S LETS GO GET STONED AND WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS... SEVERAL ROCKIN SONGS BY JOHNNY WINTER ( I CAN'T REMEMBER THE TITLES NOW ) ARLO GUTHRIE'S COMIN INTO LOS ANGELES... JOAN BAEZ'S " JOE HILL ".....THE BAND'S " THE WEIGHT " AND SO MANY OTHERS!!! ALL IN ALL THOUGH MY VOTE FOR BEST PERFORMANCE WAS THE PAUL BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND.. THEY CAME ON JUST BEFORE " SHAN NA NA " ABOUT 4 0R 5AM MONDAY MORNING AUGUST 18TH 1969.. I WAS ABOUT 50 YARDS DIRECTLY STAGE FRONT WOW!!!
